March 22, 2007 -- Pigeon Trivia


TRIVIA QUESTION:

In 1996, which country's army became the last in the world to disband its carrier pigeon service?

TRIVIA ANSWER:

Switzerland's. Its army owned 7,000 pigeons and had another 23,000 privatly owned birds on standby incase of a national emergency. The pigeon service was disbanded in hopes of saving money and instituting a more modern communications system.
